VFS Global Services Pvt Ltd is a commercial company working in partnership with the Commonwealth of Australia to provide Australian visa application services in China.

The Australian Visa Application Centres (AVAC) in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou offer services which include collection of visa application documents and application charges, an online visa application tracker as well as returning of passports to applicants. The AVACs operate within the guidelines of the client service principles of the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).

All applications will be assessed and decided by the Visa Office of the Australian Embassy in Beijing or the Australian Consulate-General in Shanghai or Australian Consulate-General in Guangzhou in accordance with Australian immigration legislation and policy. VFS Centre staff do not have the authority to assess visa applications or make visa decisions.

Visa Application Process
Step 1 : Select a visa subclass which is appropriate for the purpose of your travel to Australia and download the relevant visa application form.

Please note: You can also obtain a visa application form at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC).
Step 2 : Your visa application may require supporting documentation. For a list of supporting documentation required for your visa, see checklists provided under Visa Types. Gather together the required supporting documentation for your application.

To avoid delays all supporting documentation should be submitted at the time of application.
Step 3 : Organise your visa application fee and the service fee payments. These payments must be made separately. You may refer to the payment options document for further information.
Step 4 : If you are applying in person, you are encouraged to make an appointment with the AVAC to lodge your application.
If you are applying by mail or courier, you do not require an appointment.

Step 5 : Submit your visa application in person or by mail to the relevant AVAC. If you submit your visa application by mail, the visa application form along with the supporting documents and original passport should be packed in a strong envelope to ensure safe delivery. Please also ensure you send to the correct recipient (Australia Visa Application Centre Beijing/ Shanghai/ Guangzhou) and relevant address, please click here for details. The application will not be accepted from the courier personnel, in case envelope received is in torn or damaged condition.

Applicants should ensure that 2 separate payment slips are included in application for:

The Visa Fee payable to the correct DIBP processing office.
The VFS service and courier charge payable to the correct AVAC.

The following details should be mentioned on a cover letter in the envelope:

Number of applications in the envelope.
Applicant’s name
Applicant’s Chinese return address within mainland China
Applicant’s contact telephone numbers

The relevant Australian Visa Office may contact you to request additional information.

Step 6 : Important note for visa applicants:

Applicants must lodge a complete and signed application form for the appropriate visa subclass, pay the appropriate visa application charge and service fee. Application forms for persons aged under 18 years must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

All supporting documents and information should be submitted together with the application. Any documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation, for certain visa types.

To avoid possible delays, you should include all relevant information and additional documentation in support of your application at the time of lodgment.

If you do not provide all the specified documentation at the time you lodge your application a decision may be made on the basis of the available information. Australian migration legislation permits a decision to be taken at any time after the application has been lodged.
